Lemon Law: Acura RDX and MDX Problems
Acura produces two of the most popular and highest-selling luxury-style, SUV crossover vehicles on the market, unfortunately, Acura owners and lessees have been running into MDX problems and issues with their RDX vehicles that have presented performance and/or safety concerns for their drivers.

Safety Defects: Acura MDX Problems and RDX Vehicle Issues
The RDX and MDX have had a number of different performance issues related to the engine. With that, both of these Acura vehicle models have been subject to a number of investigations and lawsuits, conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The most recent class-action lawsuit filed against Honda Motors (who bought Acura in 2000) is specifically in regards to:
- Problems with 2016-2020 Acura RDX vehicles.
- And problems with 2016-2020 Acura MDX vehicles.
Drivers have noticed dangerous vehicle defects and problems that include:
- Problems with the vehicle decelerating.
- The engine shutting down or stalling without warning.
- Vehicle stalling while accelerating.
- An unexplained and/or sudden decrease in engine power.
- Transmission problems and stalling when shifting gears.
The plaintiff in this class action suit demonstrated that many of these problems with Acura MDX and RDX vehicles may be caused by malfunctions in communication that occurs between the transmission and the software that controls it.
Other Issues with Acura Vehicles
On some 2019-2020 Acura RDX models, there is a loose connection in the MOST bus network that may cause certain issues with the visual display or audio in your vehicle, including:
- A popping or crackling from the speakers.
- A blank display.
- No sound from the audio system.
- Network loss and/or Drive Mode Not Available Messages.
- The disclaimer message getting stuck on the display.
- The center display staying on after turning the vehicle to the OFF mode with the door open.
- Display switches between the night mode and day mode, unexpectedly.
For vehicles that are experiencing any of the above symptoms, American Honda (owner of Acura) is extending the warranty for the MOST bus network on 2019-2020 Acura RDX vehicles to 6 years or 74,000 miles from the original date of purchase, whichever comes first.
