Ford F-150 Recall

Ford F-150 Recall: Brake Booster Problems

Ford Motor Company issued an F-150 recall on certain 2021 pickup models. Certain Ford F-150 trucks have electronic brake boosters that can potentially leak brake fluid into the electronic control unit (ECU).

This brake booster defect can result in reduced braking performance, increasing the risk of a collision or accident. Even though Ford has issued a recent recall on certain trucks, Ford F-150 drivers may be entitled to greater damages, repair, and even replacement of their vehicle under the lemon law.

Ford Motor Company discovered their supplier for F-150 brake boosters manufactured these parts incorrectly. Ford sent notification letters on July 28, 2021, informing F-150 drivers of this brake booster defect.

In the notice, Ford advised drivers to take their F-150s to a certified Ford repair center, where you can have the electronic brake booster equipment replaced, free of charge.

Other Ford F-150 Recall Information

This is not the first F-150 recall linked to brake defects in Ford trucks. Ford announced another brake-related F-150 recall on October 28th, 2020 for 2014-2017 F-150 models with 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines.

This recall involved nearly 300,000 Ford pickups that were prone to leaks in the brake master cylinder.

The loss of brake fluid in these vehicles can change the feel and movement of the brake pedal. This can ultimately decrease brake function, requiring a greater effort and distance for drivers to safely bring their vehicles to a complete stop. This can ultimately put drivers at a greater risk of an accident or collision.
