Audi E-tron Problems and Recalls

Electric vehicles have been taking the market by storm. Automakers are pushing to keep up with the growing consumer demand for electric vehicles. Unfortunately, many major international automotive manufacturers have been releasing their new EVs to market too soon, leading to driver-reported problems with their vehicles.

Of these electric vehicles, the Audi e-tron is one of the most recent vehicle models to receive consumer complaints.

Car Complaints reports that a variety of 2019-2021 Audi e-tron vehicles are receiving many driver complaints against e-tron vehicles. This feedback has also led them to rate the 2019 Audi e-tron as one of the worst model years, based on several factors, including the total repair cost and the average mileage at which problems occur.

If you are a 2019-2021 Audi E-Tron driver and have been experiencing problems with your vehicle and/or have taken it in for several repairs, you may have the rights to pursue your case with our attorneys at Lemon Law Auto Fraud

Audi e-tron Electrical Error

NHTSA issued a recall on 2019 Audi e-tron vehicles for issues with moisture build-up in the cars’ electrical system.

Moisture can enter and build up in the vehicle’s high voltage system through a faulty seal on the system’s charging socket. This moisture build-up in the car’s high-voltage electrical system can cause the Audi e-tron to short circuit.

The moisture build-up in the e-tron’s high voltage system can substantially increase the risk of a vehicle fire. Audi drivers who get a warning light on their Audi e-tron display for “electrical system: fault” should stop driving immediately

Be sure that you park your vehicle outdoors, away from structures, and do not charge your vehicle. Call Audi Roadside Assistance, AAA, or a towing company to have your vehicle towed somewhere safe, outdoors, and away from structures.

Information on the Audi e-tron recall

As a result of these electrical errors, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) has recalled 2019 Audi e-tron vehicles that may be exhibiting and/or are prone to these electrical system malfunctions.

The official recall was issued on September 6th, 2019. Audi is in the process of notifying e-tron drivers of the problem, recommending drivers take their vehicle to a certified Audi dealer and repair center so that the seal and other electrical system components can be repaired or replaced, free of charge.

Other Audi e-tron Problems and Recalls

Electrical system problems aren’t the only issues that e-tron drivers are having. Owners and lessees are also reporting other Audi e-tron problems, including suspension failure and issues with the antilock braking system.

Audi issued this recall for e-tron vehicles with possible failure of their antilock braking systems (ABS), as well as issues with the electronic stability control (ESC).

This recall has been issued for:

  • 2020-2021 Audi E-tron Sportback Quattros
  • 2020-2021 Audi E-tron Quattro

Drivers experiencing ABS and ESC problems in Audi e-tron vehicles will notice a reduction in braking performance and resistance during hard braking maneuvers. This problem requires more stopping distance in order for the driver and vehicle to brake safely. Consequently, Loss of power and functionality in the e-tron ABS and ESC systems can increase the risk of a collision.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated these braking problems in e-tron vehicles are caused by sub-standard welding within the ABS’s rotor and shaft.

This specific recall covers 498 Audi e-tron vehicles in total, including 119 Audi e-tron Sportback Quattros and 370 Audi e-tron Quattrros. The automaker produced these vehicles from May through December of 2020.

Audi customers and dealers should receive notification of this most recent recall beginning Sept. 24, 2021.
