Over 1 million sedans are now a part of a recent Honda Civic air conditioning recall. Honda issued a technical service bulletin (TSB 19-091) on August 9th, 2019 addressing problematic air conditioner condensers in Honda Civic vehicles. 

 

 

In response, Honda is extending the warranty on the air conditioning condenser to 10 years from the original date that the vehicle was purchased, up to an unlimited number of miles. 

Certain year Honda Civic vehicles may qualify and be entitled to additional damages and reimbursement under the lemon law. Continue reading to learn more. 

About the Honda Civic AC Recall

The A/C condenser in certain Honda Civics was not manufactured to specification. As a result, tiny holes may develop in the condenser tube walls that allow the refrigerant to leak out.

Bear in mind, this 10-year warranty extension only covers vehicles that have a defective A/C condenser that came from the factory. 

The warranty extension does not apply to any vehicle that has ever been declared a total loss or sold for salvage by a financial institution or insurer or has a branded or similar title under any state’s law. The warranty extension does not apply to any vehicle that has a leaking condenser due to foreign object damage.
